PRO-BRACKET EXPANSION
V1 is done. What's next?
I love this angle when filming racing.
It's amazing seeing the suspension travel and battle the ups and downs of roads. Let's see if I can replicate this myself on my own car!
Problem statement:
Invent camera angle mount that displays front fender and driving footage!
First Sketch:
Mounted between wheel and fender. Extruded back and supported off passenger door. More versatile mounting mechanism for GoPro compared to V1.
Mounting Point decision.
Using fastening points that typically hold wheel well covers down. Extend past side wall of passenger door?
Scraping / conflict during turns?
During aggressive driving and turns of the wheel, will the max radius scrape? What is the clearance calculation:
Tire Sizing / Rub Calc:
Tire Sizing = 205/30/R15
205 = Tire Width (Front front to back)
30 = Aspect Ratio (height to width)
R15 = Tire made for 15" rim
How much width do I have for the bracket incase largest turning of wheel occurs during driving?
Calculation Minus Fender Width:
Measured length of fender =
Calculated max rotation of tire diameter = 620.8mm
_____ - 620.8mm =
Total clearance for thickness of bracket is: _____
First CAD Iteration:
How to determine angle of fender without model or reference?
Answer = Rapid 3D print thin angled pieces! Or just nail it first try.
